Bad things happen when people get alienated, and all too often, nobody notices
something is wrong until it's too late. Violence in the workplace takes many
forms, and most of the time it isn't the high-profile, headline-grabbing variety.
Our goal is to get in front of and stay in the minds of your employees, in an effort to thwart
misplaced behavior before it even starts.
Workplace violence can take the form of a verbal threat or aggressive body
language. It takes place when people try to intimidate one another, perhaps
by discussing violence, weaponry, or the espousal of extremist views known
to make people uncomfortable in professional settings.
Profiles in Abusive Behavior
An associate boasts about his weapons collection during working
hours. Another shows up with suspect bruises, the victim of insidious
spousal violence who's afraid to even look at anyone. Yet another
only knows how to deal with people by yelling at them, berating
them and taking advantage of his or her position as a superior.
All of these instances are textbook examples of how abuse and violence
play a part in many peoples' lives. How do you reach them? How do
you make sure that you are making best efforts to protect your workforce,
while still showing compassion and understanding for the troubled
individual?
Our way is educational, not confrontational, and it's not just for a few groups
of employees, but for an entire organization. Our approach is business-like
and professional.
Logic and Reason Gaining Ground
Research and sociological experts have been able to pinpoint what type of
behavior to be on the watch for, as well as the likely culprit. That means
logic and reason are gaining ground on emotion, abusive conduct and aggression,
but the battle with workplace violence is far from over. Choose your partner in this area wisely. Choose
Taft HR Solutions.
